In these days of ebooks, discount book wars, ‘3 for 2’ offers and digital uncertainty its reassuring that a rare first edition can still be valued. The BBC News brings us news on the sale of a first edition of Charles Darwin's ‘On the Origin of Species’ which has been sold at auction in Norfolk for £35,000.
The book was printed in 1859 and only 1,250 copies of the work were produced and sold out immediately. This copy turned up in a pile of books bought for a few pounds and once spotted was handled with white gloves and great care.
